When Health Concerns Don’t Follow Office Hours

Access to a health care professional provides this, but your questions and concerns may not always align with their normal office hours. Our plan offers a 24-hour nurse advice line that acts as your own personal triage and health care assistant. 

One call puts you in touch with a registered nurse who can assess your symptoms, answer questions or determine how quickly you need to be seen by a doctor, if at all. This 24/7 access to care can help you save money by avoiding an unnecessary trip to the emergency room. It also supports wiser health decisions because you are more informed to make the best next step.  

This resource doesn’t require an emergency to use it. Our 24-hour nurse advice line can be used to answer medication questions, help determine if a doctor’s visit needs to be scheduled or offer peace of mind advice from the comfort of your own home about a health issue that may be resolved with over-the-counter resources.

Making the most of our 24/7 Nurse Advice Line benefit as a member

Call Member Services at 1-800-240-3851 (TTY 711) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. 

You can find the phone number for the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line on the back of your member ID card.

The nurse may determine that you would benefit from speaking with a physician. If so, you can be connected to a virtual care visit with a physician via telephone and/or video. The physician will give medical treatment advice and even call in a prescription if necessary.
