Hearing
Strong hearing keeps you independent, safe, and connected to those you love
You can’t engage in conversation with those you love if you don’t know what is being said. Hearing loss should never be ignored or shamed even if it may be a common part of aging.
About one-third of adults over 65 will develop age-related hearing loss, also known as presbycusis. Hearing loss can develop slowly and often go unnoticed until others recognize your need to ask them to repeat themselves or turn the TV up to a volume that makes them uncomfortable.
Hearing loss doesn’t just affect your interpersonal relationships, but also places your cognitive health at risk. According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), older adults who don’t address their hearing loss have a greater risk of developing dementia and may experience a faster decline in concentration.
But there’s good news. Tools like hearing aids are designed to address hearing loss and have been proven to improve mental and emotional health. Research has also shown that the use of hearing aids can strengthen your relationship with your spouse or partner and help you maintain a sense of independence.
Our plans include TruHearing, which covers up to two TruHearing Advanced or Premium hearing aids per year with low copayments. Hearing aid purchases include 80 free batteries per non-rechargeable hearing aid, a risk-free 60-day trial period, full three-year manufacturer warranty, and one year of follow-up visits.
